These houses, Pisón de Fondón and Magnolia, are designed with every comfort in mind and feature private outdoor spaces that invite you to relax and enjoy uninterrupted tranquility.

Pisón de Fondón is a cozy accommodation for up to 4 people, preserving the charm of the past. Its restoration carefully respected traditional materials and techniques, such as stone and chestnut wood, creating a warm, natural, and sustainable atmosphere. This perfect balance of heritage and eco-consciousness can be felt in every corner.

At Villandás Rural, sustainability is at the heart of everything. Respect for the environment is evident in every detail: from eco-friendly products and support for local businesses to gardens and vegetable plots where food is grown naturally. These outdoor spaces not only nourish but also invite you to stroll, unwind, or simply bask in the serenity of this unique haven.

The balance between past, present, and future is woven into every aspect of Villandás Rural. The legacy of those who once lived here is honored through traditional farming practices and a life deeply connected to nature. At the same time, a commitment to responsible tourism combines modern comforts with authenticity while working to preserve this environment for generations to come.

This small village, surrounded by unspoiled nature and far from the usual tourist trails, is an authentic refuge where time seems to stand still. Its location allows you to combine mountain and sea: just an hour from the Somiedo Natural Park and the coast, it’s perfect for hiking, excursions, and reconnecting with what truly matters.

You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen at your disposal, along with a barbecue, so you can enjoy meals indoors or outdoors at your leisure.

There are no restaurants or supermarkets nearby, so we recommend that you do your grocery shopping before your arrival.

There are more options to eat and shop in Grado, about 30 minute drive away. For example, every Sunday and Wednesday morning, Grado hosts a local food market where you can find local traditional cheeses, spelt bread, fresh produce, as well as crafts, tools, clothing, and shoes.

Will I be bored?

Not at all! There are plenty of activities to enjoy, both on the property and nearby.

For quiet relaxation, the living room with its fireplace is a cozy nook perfect for reading. You’ll find a small collection of books and magazines on nature, cookery, travel, and general literature, as well as a selection of board games.

For outdoor activities, the area offers an abundance of options. Below are some of the hosts’ recommendations for the most beautiful protected natural areas nearby:

  • Somiedo Natural Park: A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, 20 km from Villandás. Known for its stunning lakes, traditional villages, and rich wildlife, including the Iberian brown bear. Ideal for hiking and horseback riding.
    • There are guided tours to learn about the habitat of the brown bear and get closer to understanding this endangered species. All funds raised go toward conservation efforts in the Cantabrian mountains. Ask well in advance for tours in English.
  • Somiedo Ecomuseum: This museum showcases rural culture, including traditional trades and the evolution of Somiedo’s homes. Located in Pola de Somiedo and Veigas.
  • The Protected Area of Pico de Caldoveiro and the Senda del Oso: A beautiful area featuring small mountain lakes, perfect for hiking or cycling along the 40 km Senda del Oso green route.
  • Las Ubiñas – La Mesa Natural Park: A magnificent mountain area with deep valleys and steep slopes, ideal for hiking. It’s rich in biodiversity and home to bears, wolves, and eagles, as well as ancient rock art and Roman roads.

There are many outdoor activities to enjoy in the area, including hiking, canoeing, cycling, orienteering, climbing, and horseback riding. You can also join guided tours through the natural parks, attend mushroom and chestnut events, and experience tastings of roasted chestnuts and Asturian cider.

If you’re looking for a more cultural experience, there are many interesting sites to visit, such as:

  • Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés, and Cudillero: Charming cities and towns full of cultural and historical interest.
  • “Ricardo Acebal del Cueto” Arboretum: A living exhibition of trees and bushes, where you can see, compare, and learn to recognize a variety of species.
  • Prehistoric Park: Located in Teverga, this museum features replicas of important Paleolithic cave art from across Europe.
  • The Atlantic Botanical Gardens: This garden specializes in flora from the regions on both sides of the Atlantic. With over 30,000 plants from almost 2,000 species, it’s a spectacular space for teaching and exhibiting.

Beautiful two-story house in a rural village in Asturias. Ideal for disconnecting, relaxing, and enjoying nature. We stayed for 10 days, which went by too quickly. I want to highlight Carmen's kindness in explaining the area and helping us with everything.

We had a really nice stay at Villandás. Surrounded by nature, in a village lost in time, the house is really pleasant, tastefully decorated, and fully equipped. You have an amazing garden behind that Carmen and her partner have taken care of. Between flowers and cows, you have nearby beautiful hikes, a good bakery, and an amazing cheese shop that I highly recommend! Regarding the host, Carmen is really caring and thoughtful. I would recommend you revise your itinerary with her as she knows the region like the back of her hand :)
