Cal Simon is a place to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. With three cozy bedrooms to accommodate up to 6 guests, two bathrooms, a living room, and a fully equipped kitchen, it’s a house made for comfort. The private garden and chill-out area are perfect spots to soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

Located just minutes from the Salnitre Caves and surrounded by trails leading to Montserrat’s breathtaking landscapes, it’s an ideal base for those who love nature and quiet adventures.

Lovingly restored by its hosts, this family home carries a warm, welcoming spirit. Entirely yours during your stay, it’s a space to relax, reconnect, and embrace the charm of Collbató.

Check-in and check-out

  • Check-in: From 16:00 to 20:00. Please inform the hosts of your expected arrival time.
  • Check-out: From 7:00 to 12:00.

House etiquette

  • Smoking is not allowed.
  • Parties and activities that may disturb the neighborhood are not allowed.
  • Please respect quiet hours between 23:00 and 8:00.
  • In Collbató, garbage is collected door-to-door. If your stay is less than 3 nights, leave the trash in the bins, and we’ll take care of it.

Pets

  • There is a 15€ fee for pets.
  • Note that the garden is not fully fenced, so please keep your pets under control at all times.
  • It is mandatory to clean up after the pets.

Facilities and accessibility

  • Cots and extra beds are not available.
  • Parking is not available.
  • Cleaning fees are 40€ for stays of two nights and 60€ for stays of three nights or more.

What will I eat?

You will have a fully equipped kitchen at your disposal to prepare your favorite meals.

The house is located in the center of Collbató, with a selection of bars, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby.
Here are some recommendations:

  • Cal Meteocoll: Located in the church square, about 100 metres from the house. A tapas bar offering sandwiches and toast.
  • Restaurant La Santa Cova: About 300 metres from the house. A fantastic restaurant with dishes to share and delicious main courses. 
  • Bar La Muntanya: Around 300 metres from the house. A tapas bar, highly recommended for their patatas bravas.
  • Restaurant Ànima: Located approximately 1 km from the house. A restaurant offering weekday menus with high-quality food.

There is also a food market open on Sundays, just a two-minute walk away.

Will I be bored?

Absolutely not! Collbató and Montserrat offer a fantastic variety of activities for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. From hiking and climbing on the breathtaking Montserrat Mountain to exploring beautiful parks and cultural attractions, there’s something for everyone in this charming corner of Catalonia. Whether you're after scenic trails, peaceful walks in nature, or diving into local heritage, this area has so much to offer.

  • The Old Town of Collbató: A medieval village with cobbled streets and houses brimming with history.
  • Coves del Salnitre: These fascinating caves, about a 45-minute walk from the house (or reachable by car), offer guided tours that reveal the natural and historical beauty of the area. Tickets need to be purchased online in advance.
  • Montserrat Monastery: This magical and iconic spot, perched on Montserrat Mountain, is over 1,000 years old. Millions of pilgrims have visited the Moreneta, the Virgin of Montserrat, since ancient times. It’s one of the most emblematic landmarks in Catalonia.

Montserrat is also famous for its many hiking routes, catering to all levels, and its historic reputation as a climber’s paradise, attracting adventurers from around the globe.

  • Within walking distance, there are parks and playgrounds in Collbató where children can enjoy swings, slides, and open spaces. 
  • There are also several child-friendly hiking trails in the Montserrat Natural Park, offering stunning views and opportunities to spot local wildlife.
  • Explore the fascinating Salnitre caves, where children can learn about geology and history on a guided tour.

How will I arrive?

By car: It's easiest to arrive by car, to have liberty to explore the area during your stay. Please note that there is no parking available directly at the house, but there are public parking options nearby within a short walking distance. You can leave your luggage at the house with the car before parking.

By bus: You can also arrive by bus from Barcelona, with the bus line Igualada-Barcelona.

Josep

For Josep, your host at Cal Simón, Collbató and Montserrat has always been a magical area, full of charm and natural and cultural beauty. The house, one of the first constructions of Collbató, has belonged to his family for over 100 years, and after it had been abandoned for 30 years, he and his partner decided to restore a part of it. Their vision was not only to preserve its heritage but also to offer others the chance to experience the charm and serenity of this special corner of the world. 

Josep believes in creating a more sustainable future, and Cal Simón reflects this philosophy. From its eco-friendly renovation using renewable aerothermal energy to its alignment with the principles of responsible tourism, the house is a testament to his values. Josep is currently working toward obtaining the Biosphere Responsible Tourism certification to leave as little impact as possible on the environment.
